I have my PC, and two 650W PSU's have blown on it. On both of those occassions, I had an extension lead plugged into the wall, then another extension lead with 6 seperate slots, plugged into the 1st extension lead.
I then had my PC plugged into one of the slots.
On both occassions my PC had been left on overnight to do things, and the next day, around mid-day, everything on the PC just turned off, I replaced the PSU both times.
This time, I bought a surge protection board. A 拢30 Belkin one from Argos. The company I bought my PC from said they'd send me an 850W PSU, instead of my 650W replacement since the previous broke, and my 拢16 Postage costs which they said they'd refund.
So, I wired up the new 850W PSU (real easy job, impossible to go wrong). Turned everything off, plugged the surge protection board into the wall, then plugged the PC cord into the surge board. I turned it on. It ran for about 30secs, the PSU was buzzing weirdly, then got louder and cut out. I replaced the power lead, same thing happened.
I changed the fuse in the same lead, the lead worked again.
A surge or something is breaking the fuses in my power leads for the PC.
A note:
When I used to have a TV and a fan plugged next to each other, in the wall, in 2 seperate slots, when I turned the fan on/off, the TV fuzzed, as if it surged.
Why is this PC surging and breaking my power cord fuses?
The surge protector board does its job, but how what is causing the constant surges, and how can I stop it ?
P.S, we use many other PC's/TV's in the house, they have never surged or broken from a surge. It's just my PC/ my room by the looks of it.
Plz help!
P.S, I am a UK, London (British) resident, in a house. So my voltage/electricity is different to anyone out there who may be in America etc.PC blowing Power Cord Fuse?
Have a look at your socket point, take it off the wall. There's a possibility that the wires supplying it are loose or the socket is on it's way out(because of age and use). Also check all of your extension leads, plugs and socket outlets and make sure no wires are loose, tighten all terminals anyway, just to make sure. Why don't you also try moving pc to another socket point to see if it does same thing.Don't forget to turn supply off before you remove socket. There could also be an overload on the circuit your pc is plugged into if it's a radial circuit, depending what else is plugged into it.PC blowing Power Cord Fuse?
Are you near an industrial area? If there are welders, large induction motors and cold-room compressors nearby, they place large spikes on the line if they're on the same phase as your house.
Try buying a U.K. designed UPS and ask for under and over-voltage adjustment protection. The american designed APC units just are not designed for voltage fluctuations that you are experiencing (Am in Australia with 240-250 volts 50hz too). Will get back to this if I can find a link for one.
...perhaps something like http://www.upssystems.uk.com/acatalog/Fr
Eaton Powerware 5115 500VA has 'buck and boost' or under and over-voltage adjustment
A UPS is an uninterruptible power supply that filters and conditions the supply voltage as well as powering your computer from internal batteries when you lose power.
A cheaper alternative is to just buy a line conditioner which conditions your line voltage much more than a surge protector.
Is all well inside your tower/computer? No power HDD power leads shorting or anything silly? Perhaps get someone to check the voltage at the outlet. How old is the house?

Off the top of my head and reading what you say, I would say the mains socket in your bedroom [or what ever room it's in] wants looking at.
Either the copper contacts where the plug slides into have burnt out or the + or the - mains wires are loose inside the socket screw connectors.
The reason I say this is because I have seen this before.PC blowing Power Cord Fuse?
Sounds like your problem is beyond the PSU, and is a failure on the mother board causing too much current to flow. Damaged Capacitor or even just a build up of fluff. PC blowing Power Cord Fuse?

Sounds to me like you have a fault in your house wiring, probably just in your PC room.
Swapped neutral and earth can cause major problems with equipment as lots of current passes through the earth connections which may then fail.
If you have no expertise in this area, get an electrician in to check the sockets. It is easy for him to check with the right equipment.keyboard gone uncontrolled howtomakeupwithyourgirlfriend

Our Central heating wont stay on we changed the fuses in it and changed the thermostat and the air conditioner
works and if we flip the breaker on it , it will work but it eventually stops does anyone have any ideas what can be wronge?can we fix it? or how much it might cost to call repair man? we live in modesto, CA. area thanks! Our Central heating wont stay on we changed the fuses in it and changed the thermostat and the air conditioner
I'm asuming you have a electric furnace.
Check for restrictions in the duct work which might reduce the volumn of air circulating through the unit. Check the filter first, then the A/C coil. If the coil is stopped up you may want to call a service man to clean it (you can do it yourself but may require removing some ductwork to get to it, and the coil cleaner solution is caustic).
As a safety feature furnaces have a high heat limit switch that opens when things get too hot. It works like the one in your blow dryer; if you block the air flow, the blow dryer will overheat and stop, until it cools down. Our Central heating wont stay on we changed the fuses in it and changed the thermostat and the air conditioner
More information, such as the type of system and what exactly is happening is required. For more info including a step by step troubleshooting guide, check out the furnace page at my source.

How do you replace the fuse in a AC/DC adaptor?
i want to know how to change a blown fuse in a netgear router plug.
http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/1/0/0/5/3/3/2/webimg/299490822_o.jpg this is how it looks. How do you replace the fuse in a AC/DC adaptor?
you don't.
you replace the entire power supply.
The case is sealed. The %26quot;fuse%26quot; is actually a fused winding in the power transformer. If you were able to carefully break open the case, you would still have to replace the transformer or rewind it.How do you replace the fuse in a AC/DC adaptor?
you cant. its all tangled and wired in the power adaptor so you need to replace the adaptor. if you were to try, you would have to wind up the fuse and get a new transformerHow do you replace the fuse in a AC/DC adaptor?
like it says on the label, that is a switching power supply (switched mode) which has a LOT more components in it that just a transformer, rectifier and fuse. I have been in the game for 30 years and never yet found one of these puppies that can be repaired - especially as the casing is ultrasonic welded together!

2001 Chrysler Sebring clock and radio don't work?
I always leave the radio on when I turn my car off, but starting 2 months ago, often when I'd turn the car back on, the radio had reset to 530AM, and the clock had reset. Now, the clock and radio do not function at all. I tried changing the fuse for the radio in the fuse panel, but both still do not function. Any idea what is wrong/how to fix?2001 Chrysler Sebring clock and radio don%26039;t work?

COUPLE THING YOU WOULD WANT TO CHECK FIRST THE HORN ITSELF MAKE SURE IT WORK AND HAS POWER AND GOOD GROUND GO THE HORN IF OK THEN CHECK THE HORN SWITCH ITSELF. LAST OF ALL CHECK THE SYSTEM WIRING FOR OPENHow can I fix my horn on my 2004 mustang gt?
if the fuse is good, you may have a connection problem. most cars (fords especially) develop connection problems with the button on the steering wheel. it doesnt make a good connection on the back side of the wheel.
a quick way to tell if the horn is good is take it off, get you about 2 feet of a spare piece of wire and cut it in two. put one end on one connector of the horn and the other wire on the other one. brush the wires against the + and - posts on the battery. the horn should go off. this means of course the horn is good. now you can try to dismantle the steering wheel and check the wiring behind that, but you have to be careful so as not to set off the air bag. sometimes either the metal gets corroded or a screw comes loose. just have to look at it. hope this helpsHow can I fix my horn on my 2004 mustang gt?
The horn itself... Been having issues with them lately... check for power and ground to horn with button pressed....
If you have keyless entry, hit the panic button, it bypasses the horn button, if horn works now, you have button issues, if still no you probably have Horn itself issuesHow can I fix my horn on my 2004 mustang gt?
crazy good ideas. I would head for the wires first, but one thought I have is that most cars have a high and low pitch horn so if it were the wires, odds are one horn would work, but not the other, unless someone unplugged them on purpose. If your horn is used by your alarm, that might be a reason to do that. One other thought is that in older cars, the wires in the sterring wheel frequently chafe or break. your car is newer so this seems unlikely. I just remember a car that used to honk the horn every time you turned left. :-D It was a GM though so that explains it.pimples and blackheads camera

How do I reset the check engine light in a 2007 Chevy Cobalt?
I recently changed a fuse but the light is still on. Is there anyway to reset the computer other than disconnecting the battery? How do I reset the check engine light in a 2007 Chevy Cobalt?
take it to a parts store have them read the code to make sure everything is ok and have them turn it off with there hand held code reader, they do this for free most places do anyway. How do I reset the check engine light in a 2007 Chevy Cobalt?
Just be aware that turning it off will only work for a very short time if you don't correct the malfunction which caused it to come on in the first place. As others said, it can be turned off with a scanner, but if the malfunction still exists it will come on again very shortly. How do I reset the check engine light in a 2007 Chevy Cobalt?

i think the newer cars you have to take it to the garage and have them reset it. you still should have a warranty on that car.How do I reset the check engine light in a 2007 Chevy Cobalt?
You will need an OBD scanner. I'd take it to Auto Zone or other auto parts store that does scans for free. Ask them to clear your CEL.

Fuse problem?
Toyota Corolla 1993. Tail lights (braking lights work) and front parking lights don't work. I changed the fuse, the parking lights turned on for 1 second and then off again. I checked the fuse and it had blown again. Like an idiot, I did it three more times all with the same result. Lights on for a second, blown fuse. What's wrong? I read something about changing a switch but I've no clue as to how that's done. Thanks in advanceFuse problem?
definitely a short somewhere after the fuse, i really dont think changing the combo switch will fix you problem. You will just have to take a look at the wiring to the parking lights either manually or via wiring diagram and check for any exposed wireFuse problem?
taillight and brake lights are separate, do the taillights still work?
defective question...now we have to guess.
put a fat fuse in there 30 amp, if it blows instantly, there is a dead short, otherwise...
take all the taillight/park light bulbs out, turn on park light switch, check fuse, put new bulbs in one at a time, check fuse each time.Fuse problem?
Check that the wires in the back of parking lights are not arcing out on the surrounding metal. Allwires should be covered by the plastic coating and should not have wires exposed. Could also obtain other parking lights from wreckers and try them to see if problem reoccurs as the insulation in your parkers might be defective.

How to Troubleshoot electrical problems on a 01' Cadillac Catera?
I have just currentyly purchased an 01' cadillac catera and its fuel door and the trunk do not open. I have changed the fuses and tested the buttons again and they still don't open and would like to know if anyone knows what other possibilities there might be causing the problem. Can anyone tell me how to go about in troubleshooting and eliminating the problem.

find the wiring for those circuits and look for corrosion on the contacts and switches, if you cant reach, or find them spray the wire ends and all of the hinges with liquid wrench (in the GREEN can) this will clean the contacts and eat any corrosion and or salt contamination look for a loose or broken ground wire that goes thru another panel that may have become disconnected on the remote control you may have a system that was modified to include the security system, look behind the dash for loose and disconnected wires...good luck

I want to get a general idea about converting a gas hot water tank to electric?
Would there be any reason I couldnt do it? My wiring is older my house has fuses not breakers. I need a hot water tank and want an electric one. I just want to know reasons why I couldnt get electric. Also about how much is it to change from fuses to breakers? Thnaks in advanceI want to get a general idea about converting a gas hot water tank to electric?
The only reasons you wouldn't be able to do it are..1. you may not have enough room in your current fuse box to add a 2 pole 30 amp circuit. 2. You may not be able/have access to run a new circuit to the water heater location. Changing from fuses to breakers will cost 300 to 500 for parts alone. More if you have it professionally done. Good Luck.I want to get a general idea about converting a gas hot water tank to electric?
There are a few reason you couldn't do it.
First, you would have to make sure your new water heater would not exceed the amount of amperage you currently draw. Usually, older homes have 60amp service, and houses I've been in have always complemented that service with a gas dryer, stove, furnace, water tank, etc. I am thinking that a new water tank would definitely exceed that amount, especially if you have any major electric appliances.
Second, to do it yourself, you would have to have knowledge of fuse boxes. (Replacing electric water heaters isn't hard if you know how to solder copper pipe and have a basic knowledge of wiring.)
Changing from fuses to breakers could cost anywhere from $1000 - $2000 depending on amperage and if any rewiring was needed. Quite pricey, you don't say why you can't get another gas one.... possibly the cost of natural gas?I want to get a general idea about converting a gas hot water tank to electric?
To change to electric you would have to confirm you have enough capacity in your electrical panel. Electric HWT will most likely require a 30Amp breaker. You also have to consider how to run the wire from the panel to the HWT. You could be looking at removing wall and ceiling finishes in order to hide the wire from view. If your basement is unfinished you do not have to worry about this. Personally I would stick with the gas HWT.
If you are thinking of updating your panel to new one with circuit breakers. I agree that this is an excellent idea. I could see it costing a homeowner aprroximatel $1,000.00 for a certified electrician to do it.

fairly inexpensivethe wiring is already there basically new breaker control box and out with the old breakers in with the new fuses

Henry the hoover, any ideas on how to fix it?
I have just hoovered downstairs and took the hoover to do upstairs and when I plugged it in it will not work at all, I have changed the fuse, had a bit of a once over and cannot see anything a miss.Has anyone any ideas as to what is wrong with it???? It is just out of warranty I think as it was bought jan 07.
Does anyone in Bolton fix henrys if so let me know your details I think I may be needing assistance, thanks.Henry the hoover, any ideas on how to fix it?
There is a cut out button on the side or top of the machine, press it back in, have you tried that? If that does,nt work then it is most likely that there is a break in the cable. Its usually on the inside on the cable winder where it is clamped. If you have a multimeter you can check out the continuity yourself or ask a friend. Its a simple repair for someone with a little practical knowledge and worth trying before incurring the expense of a repair man.Henry the hoover, any ideas on how to fix it?

Bearded Dragons, Please help!?
I have 2 bearded dragons and I really need your help.
In their enclosure they have a heat mat, heat lamp and a uv 10.0 light (3ft long)
My uv light stopped working so i got a new one today but its still not working.
My questions are:
how long can a bearded dragon go without this light?
what can i do to help them get what they need whilst i get the problem sorted?
What could have stopped it from working (i have changed fuses)
Thankyou so very much :'(Bearded Dragons, Please help!?
maybe its not the right wattage for the starter,
do you not have a spare mini uvb bulb you can use
where is your heat mat in the viv , beardies cant feel heat on their bellies and can burn them severly
dangers with heat mats are that bearded dragons cant feel heat on their bellies and can cause extreme burns and death in some cases
what are the temps in your viv , they should be 105ish at the hot end and about 85 in the cool end
and when you say you have a heat lamp is it the light kind or ceramic
best place for a heat mat is in the bin or on the side of the wall , a
also is your heat source hooked up to a thermostat
have you got an email it would be alot easier to explain stuff all at once instead of coming bk to the q every 2 mins lol
but on the starter for the light turn it over their shoud be a sticker saying, model , tube 40w n 38mm or summin along those lines , tell me what it says on the sticker and then tell me what make you uvb tube is , is it exo terra repti glo 10% 36 inch and what wattage the uvb is , it will say where it says exo terra repti glo
what wattage does it say on the back of the starter for the light and what wattage is the repti glo
also i see a question you answered get rid of the wood chip, use ceramic or slate tiles or vinyl tiles , repti carpet or paper/paper towels
if wood chip is swallowed it can block the vents in your beardie,
carpet you can buy from mainly reptile pet shops not the pet shops that sell hamsters coz them pet shops have no clue what they are on about most times , i would recommend tiles tho they are easier to clean etc , i brought some new tiles the other day and they cost 5.99 from BnQ , cheaper than carpet and alot better in my book you might be able to get them a bit cheaper , i have a 6ftx2ftx2ft viv and they covered it good so if you get them buy them single as you will save money instaed of buying a in a packBearded Dragons, Please help!?
If the new bulb did not get the light going, then it's probably a problem with the fixture, it could be the starter which is easily replaced or it could be the ballast. If it is the ballast then you are better off with just buying a new strip. I wouldn't go more than 2 days without the UV strip light, but that is just me.Bearded Dragons, Please help!?
If you have a reptile heat bulb that will be just fine for a while until you get the issue fixed. Please take out the heat mat. Heat mats, rocks, ect. are very bad and pose more of a danger to them than not having a light. As far as it breaking, I am not sure. If you have changed the bulb and fuse then maybe the the fixture is bad.Bearded Dragons, Please help!?
Don't use a heat mat! They can't feel heat on their bellys and could get severely burned! Use a heat light instead. (Remember to put a protector on it so that you or you beardie wont get burned.)

How much would it cost to get the short in my break light fixed?
My break light has a short....I've changed the fuse and the light will work a few times but after the 4th or 5th time i pump the break the fuse blows. I have tried to find the short myself but I've been completely ineffective. I was wondering if anyone knows how much it would cost to get it fixed? How much would it cost to get the short in my break light fixed?
You can purchase the taillight from the dealer or autoparts store, then rewire it the same as it was in the first place. You have to make sure that the wires are twisted tight then tape it.

What could be wrong with my car?
I have a 1988 honda prelude 2.0 si efi 4 wheel steering does not have ANY electrical power im talking power locks, windows, lights, brake lights nothing works there is no clicking at all when i try to start it.
This is what Ive done to the car lately to try to figure out whats wrong.
I have recharged my battery didn't work
Put a new battery in didn't work
had the alt and starter checked they are fine
checked and changed fuses that are all good
changed main relay didnt help
rewired the cables that connect to the battery posts didnt help
cleaned the battery posts didnt help
checked all grounds I could all were fine
This car was running fine forever I took the valve cover off (it stayed off for about 2months and yesthe car was in my garage) I also bought and replaced the cat converter, wipers, tail light casing, hedders, piping from hedders to exhaust. Then I tried to start my car and this no electrical problem happend? ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS? OTHER THAN WAHT IVE ALREADY DONE?

It is going to be some thing simple, but you will need a wiring diagram. It should be easy to find on point in the schematic that is a common denominator. It's got to be an in-line fuse (one that is difficult to discern visually, but will appear on the diagram); a wire with apparently good insulation, but a bad terminal, or broken conductor within the insulation; a common ground wire or hot wire loosely connected, like the primary wire to the starter, or alternator. It will end up being right in front of your nose, too. But, again, refer to a schematic. You can get them online, often times for free. What could be wrong with my car?
ask for help but thinking jerk..hmmm
1 start with battery..12.7 volts at rest..
2 cables,,hooked up right? good at both ends?
3 did you accidently hook it up backwards first? and blow the main fuseable link [and everthing elseWhat could be wrong with my car?
Sounds to me like the positive battery cable is bad or you have a bad ground. I would replace the positive cable and check, clean and tighten the ground cable. Also check the ground strap that connects the engine to the chassis. What could be wrong with my car?
did you have a lot of weight on your key chain if so you should look at the key cylinder or Ingaition switch on the colum under the dash or even the fuise links to the starter aka in line fuses they are right on the starter 2 or 3 of them you need a test lighi turn the key on check for power on the starter side of the wiresWhat could be wrong with my car?

How do I stop the blinker noise from sounding even when the blinker is off?
I have a 2000 chevy blazer and the blinker sound is always on! Its making me crazy!!! I'm hoping its something simple, the truck runs great so I don't think its worth taking it to a mechanic who will charge me $200 to flick a switch or twist a knob. Please, someone help before I go insane!!
By the way, I've already tried changing the fuse, no dice. How do I stop the blinker noise from sounding even when the blinker is off?
The turn signal flasher and hazard flasher on that truck are one and the same. It does not look like the standard two pronged round flasher used on many cars, it is actually a rectangular relay located under the dash on the passenger side. Just flip on the turn signal and follow your ears.
If the flasher is clicking with the turn signals and hazard flashers turned off, the problem is very likely the Multifunction Switch. This is an assembly, bolted to the instrument column, and includes the turn signal switch, hazard switch, high/low switch, and the wiper switch. It is a common failure part, I've replaced a lot of them, many under warranty. There was a recall on them. The labor time to change it is 1.4hours, GM part is 26100838 for a tilt wheel, costs $432.92. It's 26100837 for a non tilt, costs $195.02. You can probably get an aftermarket one for about $65. You'll need some small Torx and inverted Torx tools to do the job. With the right tools, you don't have to remove the steering wheel to replace it. There is a Torx bolt on the bottom left side that backs out in to the steering wheel. But if you have a short enough driver bit, you can get it.How do I stop the blinker noise from sounding even when the blinker is off?
Check your doors, it often is the same warning...How do I stop the blinker noise from sounding even when the blinker is off?
First, check the electrical switches on the doors. If they are good then look for broken (or shorted) wires on the same circuit.
Also check your emergency blinkers switch. Sometime if this is %26quot;ON%26quot; it makes the blinker sound, but usually it will indicate this by also flashing both of the turn signals.
If you do not have a circuit tester, go buy a cheap tester at Radio Shack. These can be invaluable in hunting and finding electrical gnomes in the car and in the house.

How do you turn the pilot light back on a gas dryer?
I moved my dryer to check the air vent, and when I moved it back the pilot light went out. It won't come back on, and I even changed the fuse. Any suggestions? How do you turn the pilot light back on a gas dryer?
Never heard of a gas dryer having a pilot light. In fact they use a kind of spark plug to ignite the gas, similar to how you ignite the LP on a gas cooker.
If you disconnected the gas, the line may have a lot of air in it and may take a while before it bleeds out and ignites properly. How do you turn the pilot light back on a gas dryer?
Call the Gas company ASAP! You may have pulled the line. Push the botton for a gas leak just to be safe@How do you turn the pilot light back on a gas dryer?
If your gas dryer has a pilot it has to be at least 40 years old. If it is that old, there is a reset valve in the burner compartment where the pilot is. It is not an easy task and I would suggest you call a professional such as your local utility if they offer that kind of service. If it is not that old then chances are you have a burned out ignitor. This is an electrical component that heats up to open the gas valve and ignite the gas. It too is an easy fix for the knowledgeable handyman but I would not suggest a novice do the job. There is direct line voltage connecting to the ignitor and you could suffer a bad shock or worse. Call the pros, it will be worth it.How do you turn the pilot light back on a gas dryer?

Fuse or cigarette lighter?
So I was having a problem with my cigarette lighter. So, I changed the fuse, and it worked again. Thing is, it will only work one time. Once I unplugged something, the fuse blows. This has happened several times, and I檝e put a new fuse in each time. This leads me to believe the problem is my cigarette lighter, not my fuse. If this is the case, how can I fix this and if I can檛 do it myself, how much would it cost to get it done at a shop?Fuse or cigarette lighter?
Take a cig lighter out of a friends car and put it in yours, if it pops the fuse then you know it's something else. If it doesnt then go to a parts house and buy a new one, they are very cheap.Fuse or cigarette lighter?
They are a big coil spring that causes resistance from being shorted out and heat up. When they get old the spring warps and shorts out on itself. This increased the load on your electrical system and blows the fuse.
Basically get a new lighter.

How Do I change the blinker fuse on my 2001 camaro?
Hi all!
My left blinker isn't blinking anymore, and the right one just stays on.
I gave it a boot once and it started to work fine for a few weeks but has screwed up again.
I tend to believe its the fuse - but have no idea how to change it or what part I'd get.
Could anyone tell me where its located and how to get at it?
Ive got an 2001 Camaro RS V6
I should probably change the bulbs at some point but they work fine I think that they fuse just might be partially fried and thats why it wont work properly.
THANKS!

my advice... start with the bulbs. If the fuse was blown, the lights wouldn't work at all...How Do I change the blinker fuse on my 2001 camaro?
i would check the bulb first but your fuse box should be located on the drivers side somewhere under the dash and steering column.. you'll probably have to get down and kneel and stick your head under to see it. Look for the particular fuse [they should be labeled] and just pop it out, bring it to an auto store and ask for a replacement and just pop it back in. its really simple to change a fuse but i would double check the bulbs too.How Do I change the blinker fuse on my 2001 camaro?
you need to turn on the four ways to walk around the car and see what bulbs ARE working(front and rear) change bulbs that are bad (if any) it might be the turn signal flasher.it's usually just below steering column, behind that panel. worst case senario would be the hazard/turn signal switch, under steering wheel,in the column. e-mail me again if you need. doug

PLEASE HELP.Toyota Corolla Solaire 1996 1.3 Litre.Where is the Fuse box? CD Player, Cigarette Lighter, Clock r Not Working?
From what you're showing me via those photos that vehicle has 4 different locals that have either fuses or relays etc in them. There are two under the hood on the drivers side and another inside the car on the inner wall by the drivers side left foot panel but remember the pictures or charts you have here are not for your car exactly bec you mentioned it's the UK and its a right hand drive vehicle.
I'd just open up the hood and look for the two fuse boxes beside the battery and on that same side on the inside of the vehicle there should be a fuse panel or fuse box and on the opposite side of the car again there should be another box according to you charts.
Normally any devices such as the cig lighter are connected to other circuits especially the radio or clock via a constant 12 volt positive feed that comes from a fuse usually that is either 10 or 20 amp that is usually on the same side where the steering wheel is.In your case you should be looking for fuses that mention the stereo or clock system, plus electric mirrors and not always do fuse charts mention all the devices that one fuse might be controlling.
Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way there should be small panels that come off on both sides of that car by the passengers feet and and another by the drivers feet side panel wall, plus there should be a tool that is on the fuse box lid or cover etc that will be designed to help you pull out certain fuses.
From the different types of fuses that are in that vehicle you might want to get a ohms meter and pop them out one by one and do a resistance test or continuity test on each fuse to be sure but I think it's a 20 or 25 or tops a 30 amp fuse that you're looking for.Toyota Corolla Solaire 1996 1.3 Litre.Where is the Fuse box? How to change cigarette lighter fuse bmw 325xi 2004?
How do I change cigarette lighter fuse bmw 325xi 2004? I know it's located in glove compartment top side. On the paper in it it says it's equipment number 47 and australia 47 and 26. I look at it on top and it says fuse 5 and replacement fuse 11 but there are many %26quot;5%26quot; numbered fuses and white numbers indicating number 11. I replaced one 5 fuse with the one on 11 spot and it still didn't work. Please help

Use a Buss fuse tester (part of a $4 fuse kit from Walmart) or a multimeter, and check fuses one by one... and simply replace the blown one!How to change cigarette lighter fuse bmw 325xi 2004?
How do you know that you have a fuse problem? Perhaps you really have but have you checked for power with key on at the cigarette
lighter socket itself? Do this with a multimeter at a voltage setting higher than 12 volts dc. Touch the ground cable to the side of the socket and the positive cable to the center terminal of the socket
and you should get 12 volts/battery voltage.
When unsure which fuse among those listed applies to you car,
then remove them one by one and check for continuity by setting the multimeter at resistance (any) and touch both ends of the fuse with the multimeter electrodes (it should read very close to zero, if at 1 then the fuse has blown and should be replaced).
Alternatively, you can set the multimeter to 12 volts dc or higher and touch the ground electrode to a metal part of the body and the
positive electrode to both ends of the fuse one at a time with the ignition key on.
You should get 12 volts or battery power at both ends.

Did My TV blew a fuse?
Last night,I watching television on my Magnavox 27%26quot;TV and it just turned off automatically.I didn't turn it off manually or put the sleep timer on it.I don't know if it blew a fuse or what? I am not a technical guy when it comes to electronics so I would not know how to change the fuse myself or take the TV apart{I am only 17.} All I need to know is:1.whether or not,the tv has blown a fuse.2.Should I pay to get the television repaired or should I just buy another television? Thanks.Did My TV blew a fuse?
does the tv turn on still?
how old is it?
if really old, not worth repairing
chances are it is not a blown fuse
tvs do not have user replaceable fusesDid My TV blew a fuse?
More than likely, something in the power board went bad. You didn't state what model it was, so just a guess is that a repair facility could fix it for under $150. Take into consideration the low prices on new TV's these days, and you might be better off spending a few more dollars and getting a new one.Did My TV blew a fuse?
Just buy another one.

Help Shower trips fuse after 10 minutes use?
Hi there,
I have had a shower fitted by an electrician for a good few years now. I have had two units one was 8kw and the current one is 8.5kw. I have been using it but it cuts off after 10 minutes at the circuit breaker/fuse. I have been googling online about it and some answers have been coming up with about the fuse amp at the board and the power of the shower. I have the wire for the shower into a 30amp circuit breaker and the maximum load on the whol circuit is 100amp. I am not too sure if the shower is too powerful and I need to get an electrican to increase the fuse amp to allow for the 8.5kw shower. Is this possible? I am not too sure of the size of the wire supplying the shower. How much do you think it would cost for an electrican to come out and change the fuse or resolve this issue? I am a woman on my own and I am so scared of cowboys taking advantage and charging me a small fortune. Iam in the UK!Help Shower trips fuse after 10 minutes use?
You need to have the actuall current measured with an amprobe. You can't just be putting bigger fuses on with out increasing wire size. If the unit says 8.5 Kw, I assume that this is 220 volt?
(Voltage X Current = Watts). Or (Wattage divided by voltage = current)
My calculations comes to 38 amps. If you have a 30 amp installed of course it will trip when the thermal overload kicks it. If the wire size is 8 AWG or bigger, you can go as high as 50 amps. But if your wire size is 10 AWG, 30 amps is max breaker size.
BTW: I don't know of any 30 amp fuses that hold at 40 amps for over 20 minutes. Wouldn't that defeat the whole point of circuit protection?
Fuses will take current inruse surges, but not running 30% over capactiy for no 20 min!Help Shower trips fuse after 10 minutes use?
Fuse size is fine; Even though demand is slightly over 30Amp, it'll never trip it as the overcurrent is so low.
EG: A 30A fuse/MCB needs 45A current flow for 20 minutes to pop it..
It'll be a loose connection somewhere in circuit. Try feeling the temperature of the supply wires at/near junctions immediately after it trips (Don't touch anything 'live') . It'll probably looked brown %26amp; charred too, if you get enough confidence to take any covers off.Help Shower trips fuse after 10 minutes use?

I have a fuse in my 2004 chevy cavilier that keeps blowing?
Ok so for the last month at least my radio fuse keeps blowing. I would change the fuse and then a few days later it would blow again. The dude at advance said that it was because I have something always running like a GPS. Which in my car isnt true. Plus the GPS goes into the cigg lighter, which is not the fuse that keeps blowing. Well yesterday it blew again. I went to change it and before I could even get it inserted it sparked and blew. It litterally melted part of the fuse and created sparks. I just need to know what is wrong and how do I fix it. ThanksI have a fuse in my 2004 chevy cavilier that keeps blowing?
Don't listen to people at Advance. I hate that place. You obviously have a short circuit in the power wire leading to your stereo. If it's an aftermarket stereo, the source of the problem is most likely right behind the head unit. Maybe the insulation was cut by a screw or sharp piece of metal. Could possibly be the case with a factory head unit too. Pull your stereo out and see if you can find any cut wires. You can identify the power wires by the fact that they're usually larger in diameter than the others.

My goodmans 37 inch lcd (ld3755hd) tv wont turn on there is no power going to it i tried changing the fuse?
i have been told that the board? (somewhere) may have gone in it does anyone know how i can get hold of one or fix the tv? thanksMy goodmans 37 inch lcd (ld3755hd) tv wont turn on there is no power going to it i tried changing the fuse?
I would suggest 2 things to you.
1) have your lcd looked at by a qualified engineer and find out whats wrong with it and how much it would cost to get fixed.
2) Either get it fixed by the engineer or have a look on ebay or other sites for a model the same as yours. Sometimes what you might find is that you can get hold of a full faulty tv cheaper then just the one part you need. Then check out a few reviews or guidance which will show you how to fix it yourself.

USB fuse blown out?
I bought myself an external USB hub. It is self powered and I think it blew off the fuse to the USB ports on my laptop.
XP will not find any devices unless it is connected in some way to the hub, ie (device to hub and hub to laptop) or (both hub and device plugged at the same time to laptop)
Is it possible to change the fuse myself?
Where can I get a fuse and how much will it cost?
How much approximately will it cost if I have it repaired by say PC world?USB fuse blown out?
There are four wires in a USB cable, two for data, and two for power. Now you said your hub is externally powered, so that means the data lines are still intact in your pc, its only the power lines that are damaged.
If you can see where exactly its blown you could try repairing it, should be fairly simple.USB fuse blown out?
What do you mean by 'self powered'? I've not seen any USB hub that isn't powered by the port it plugs into.
What makes you think you've blown a fuse? I wasn't aware of there being a fuse anywhere near the USB ports - i wouldn't have thought there was enough power available to warrant one.USB fuse blown out?
I've been told the whole Port needs to be replaced. I think around $80 at our local computer repair shop.USB fuse blown out?

Fuse box port is broken?
i just got my new car and the guy said my fuses of blown for my radio so the next day i went to change the fuse and the port where the fuse goes is kinda broken. the fuses seems not to be secure in the ports. its easy to pull out and the radio still doesnt work. how do i fix this problem. do i get a whole new fuses box or fix the portFuse box port is broken?
You need to get a new fuse box or an in line fuse. If the radio fuse is the only bad fuse and it is not used for anything else I recommend a in line fuse. It is hooked in line with the power wire to the radio to blow if there is a problem with the radio or the wiring (short). In line fuses are very cheap and easy to install.
If there is other loose fuses replace the fuse box. Your going to have many electrical problems.
Most fuse boxs are non repairable, you have to replace the hole assembly.Fuse box port is broken?

****cigarette lighter fuse????
I have a '97 ford escort and my lighter stopped working a while ago... i need it for my ipod/cellphone... can someone pls tell me how to change the fuse?
I don't have a car manual so i'm not sure where exactly it is or which fuse it'll be...
also where can i find new fuses and apx how much are they??
Thanks!!!****cigarette lighter fuse????
if u cant find where the cigerette lighter fuse is ul have to go thru each fuse to see which one is blown its not hard to tell the difference, and once u find it it should say on fuse what size it is and just get new one....yeh there only $1****cigarette lighter fuse????
when you pull the cover off the fuse panel there should be a sticker with what fuses go to what. Pull the fuse to the lighter and get a replacement of the same amperage. Should only cost about $1****cigarette lighter fuse????
the type of fuses used are really cool designed on your car as well as most. If you look at the end of them you'll see a number 5a, 10a, etc. this is the amp of the fuse, on either side of that number are little metal tips they are there for you and I to test the fuses if blown. Go to auto zone and get an electrical tester(looks like a long pencil with a wire coming out where an eraser should be) the wire has a clip and the other end of the tester has a sharp point. it will likely have a protective cover over the tip to protect you from poking your self, the clip gets clamped on any metal spot you can find around the fuse panel (brake pedal may work) then you simply touch the sharp pointer one at a time on those metal tips referred to earlier. one side should light up and the other not if the fuse is blown for the cigarette lighter. some fuses are only hot when the key is on and others are not. on Fords you'll see the words IGN , ACC and I believe pos. Ign is with the key toward start, Acc is lit usually both ign and Acc and pos is always getting power even if the key isnt in the lock at all. hope this helPS. ps the fuses pull straight out and I advise a small fuse kit with an assortment for your fuse type it usually includes a fuse puller tool and you put the rest in your glove box for future needs.bird tvs

You need to call your local dealer for this question. Reason being is because the fuse for your vehicle needs to be ordered. Do you have a car manual. Make sure you dont change it yourself because i dont want you to get shocked.

How do I fix my motorcycle headlight?
Although the lights work (I can flash the hi-beams and the low beams are on), the actual switch won't turn the hi-beams on. I presume it's just a fuse problem and am loathe to take it to the garage for that. How can I change the fuse? How do I fix my motorcycle headlight?
For future reference, always give year, make, engine size and model when asking questions. We need all of that info to give an informed answer.
Bikes use one fuse for the headlight.
If the headlight works, then the fuse is in working condition.
I don't understand %26quot;I can flash the high beams%26quot;.
Look at the headlight bulb connector, to determine what color wire powers the high beam.
Using a 12v test light, check for power at the handlebar switch connector (high beam color wire, with the key on).
If no power - replace the switch, or open it up and look for defects. How do I fix my motorcycle headlight?
As stated, it is probably NOT your fuse, rather, the switch. After using any recommended type of lubricating fluid, if that does not work you can (or a friend who knows how to use a multimeter) check to see if the switch itself is functional (see if the current is going into the switch but not out when in the proper settings for high/low beam). If the switch is bad, it can be replaced by yourself/friend or at a dealer.
In answer to your question about changing fuses, each brand of bike has fuses in different places, so check your owners manual or the dealer for the location of the fuses, then use a fuse puller to check the fuses. How do I fix my motorcycle headlight?
if you can flash high beams it's probably a %26quot;switch%26quot; problem, not a fuse problem...
spray some WD-40 in the high beam/low beam switch and try clicking it back and forth...
if it doesn't work, then look for something else...How do I fix my motorcycle headlight?
you only have side %26quot;little bulb%26quot; and dip and main beam %26quot;big bulb%26quot; if main flashes but wont come on its a wire off at the back tell me the bike ill tell you the colour to look for
For future reference, always give year, make, engine size and model when asking questions.

How do I get to my dash light?
I have a 98' Saturn SC2, my fog lights, tail lights and dash lights were all out, so I changed the fuse and they all work but my dash lights. So I was wondering how do I get in there to change the light so that my car will pass the safety inspection? How do I get to my dash light?

Fiesta 07 tdci fuse question?
hey all,
hope you are swell. On my way home I discovered a warning light on my dash and the car has gone into 'get home safely' mode. After reading the manual I have discovered that i need to change a fuse. I understand that there should be some spares kicking around? where should i look? can anyone advise me as to how i rectify this annoying problem....
thanks everyone

Hello!
If the car is actually underperforming since the light came on then it will be more than a fuse at fault, and I know that the TDCi engines suffer from cam sensor, crank sensor, and knock sensor problems.
The crank sensor would cause a complete breakdown and the car wouldn't run at all, so that can be ruled out, but it could still be one of the others.
You need to have the fault codes read out and if I'm not mistaken you need to find a garage which has access to Delphi software to read the TDCi ECU.

The spare fuses are in the fuse box. They should be marked as spare or marked as having no job.
I bet its more than just a fuse thats at fault!Fiesta 07 tdci fuse question?
i'd have a look for you but i just put my fiesta in the garage - i will av a look tomorrow morn and if you havent had an answer by then (and i remember) i will let you know.
Fortunately have never had prob like that myself - all iv had is brake light after brake light blowing - have you had to change one of them yet?? crikey you need a degree to take the light cluster off! :)Fiesta 07 tdci fuse question?

Turn signals quit working on my Buick, what's wrong?
I changed fuses and they still don't work. When I turned on the hazard lights, there was no %26quot;clicking%26quot; sound. How to fix this?Turn signals quit working on my Buick, what%26039;s wrong?
go to the parts store ask for blinker switch found most of the time around the fuse box once you have a new one you should be able to find the old one easy fixTurn signals quit working on my Buick, what%26039;s wrong?
Assuming the signal will come on when you switch from left to right, the flasher itself is probably blown.Get your owners manual out look for signal flasher. It should tell you where it is located, change it out and you are ready to go.Turn signals quit working on my Buick, what%26039;s wrong?
check your blinker relay most times it's in your fuse panelTurn signals quit working on my Buick, what%26039;s wrong?
Some GM models had a recall for a defective flasher switch which will cause the blinkers not to work. You didn't say which year model you had but if it's a 99 or above then it you should check with either GM or a local dealer to see if your car is one of them.
Even if it's not there may be other recalls that need to be performed.

1993 ford probe overheating. ran very hot.?
I was on the interstate and afraid to stop so I kept running it...
Stopped by a mechanic the day before because my gauge said it was hot. He said it didn't look as if it was hot. poured water on it and sent me on my way.
I have a good water pump. radiator not leaking. changed fuses on fan belt. it is a little out of time but it has been for a while and never ran hot before. The thermostat is out so that isn't the cause. had the alternator belt replaced prior to it starting to run hot. Not backfiring but does lose power when driving. I do need an oil change but do not think that is the reason for it running hoe.
scared i may have cracked the head or whatever but need to know how to check.
Does anyone know what my solution may be. Need it fixed asap.1993 ford probe overheating. ran very hot.?
It would run much cooler if it had a thermostat in it. You need to make sur that your fan is coming on when it should , you have two sensors on your engine for the fan or fans, one of them turns the fan on as soon as you turn your a/c unit on, the other one turns the fan on when your car reaches a set temparture. so if you turn the a/c unit on a fan should come on right then , if it does then that sensor is good. You now need to let the engine heat up to see if the fan come's on (this could take awhile ) if it doesn't come on you need to replace that sensor, because if it not coming on it letting the1993 ford probe overheating. ran very hot.?
refill the rad with antifreeze and water, if possible, put more anti-freeze than water. see if that fixes it. if it does, you probably have a leak in your cooling system. the reason why i say to put more antifreeze than water is because antifreeze has colour to it. so it would be easier for your mechanic to find the leak than if it only had water in it,1993 ford probe overheating. ran very hot.?
check for a switch underneath the driver side dash.1993 ford probe overheating. ran very hot.?
1. Check your coolant level, could be low, pull the cap by the thermostat housing and make sure that it's full to the top that no air can get in, if it can then you want to squeeze the lower rad hose and get all of the air out.
2. Check your oil level, also could be low
3. Make sure your fans are coming on when they should.
4. Pull your oil dipstick, take a lighter, and see if your oil will start on fire (oil will not, coolant will, so if it does then you have a bad head gasket.)
5. Check to make sure your water pump belt is still there (if it doesn't steer hard then odds are it is, doesn't hurt to check though)\
6. Take it to a mechanic and let them figure it out!
You never said if the %26quot;check engine%26quot; light comes on, but if it does, then do this: http://www.freeautomechanic.com/diagnost1993 ford probe overheating. ran very hot.?
First thing you want to do is check the oil. When you get it changed, have them take a close look at it and see if they see any coolant mixed in. This would be an indication of a cracked head or a broken head gasket. You can check the dipstick and cap. There would be some sludge. That doesn't necessarily mean it's from that (moisture can get in there just from the air if it's not properly sealed), but it at least gives you a starting point
You mentioned the alternator belt was replaced. Is that also hooked up to the water pump? I'm wondering if there's something wrong with the tension in the belt itself.
Be sure to get the thermostat replaced. You said it's out now. You want it in there.1993 ford probe overheating. ran very hot.?
your radiator may not be leaking, but it could be clogged with rust or dirt. have a radiator overhaul.

How do you change the primary battery fuse on 1998 f150?
I changed my alternator only after 1 1/2 years of replacing it. When I put in the new one, the battery was not being charged. The guys at Advanced Auto asked me if it was a Ford. I said yes, and he told me that I could have blown the fuse. If it is the Primary battery fuse, how do I know if it is blown?? Please help, I can't drive it anywhere to have someone do it.How do you change the primary battery fuse on 1998 f150?
Okay, the last time I checked, that fuse would be in a box INSIDE of the engine compartment. Look near the battery first off. There should be a black box right next to it with white lettering on it. Those are the big fuses. Once opened, there will be a list of which fuse is for what thing. Remove the fuse and go get the new one. Remember to use di-electric grease when re-installing the fuse so to make a better power connection as well as easier installation and removal if necessary. How do you change the primary battery fuse on 1998 f150?
Follow the main battery wire from the alternator back to the battery.. it will go under a cover on the passenger side before it heads to the battery.. under that cover (depending upon the year, there may be two.. a outer cover and a smaller cover where you psycially see the wires going in and out of that is taped) is a 175 amp fuse... it's about a $10 fuse... it's bolted in and removal of the battery cables to replace is neccesary
There are also a fuse from the dash to the alternator.. if that fuse is blown, it will cause same headaches...
Third thing is, I've had bad luck with some aftermarket alternators causing alternator light to stay on even as it is charging the battery among other things...
Check your fuses... then check the alternator.

Is it a fuse or light bulb?
two of my gauge lights burnt out and I was wandering if its because of the light bulb or the fuse. I'm thinking its the the bulb, because I changed the fuse and it's still out. How do you get to the light bulb anyway? Is it a fuse or light bulb?
More than likely its the bulb thats burned out. There are screws that have to be removed from the instrument panel bezel. If you email me I can email you copies of the pages in my shop manual that show detail of how to remove the dash panels. wsevier@yahoo.comIs it a fuse or light bulb?
Most likely it's the bulbs. I have some out too and they are a pain to get at. You either have to take the dash board apart or you have to reach way up under and feel for the holders then when you find them you have to try and twist them one half turn to get them out. Good Luck%26gt;Is it a fuse or light bulb?
you basically have to take out the gauge cluster which means you have to take apart almost the whole dash. you didnt specify which car your dealing with but the newer wranglers its goin to be a pain in the *** to do because it will have so many screws to take out and all that great stuff but on the old cherokees you take out the screws that hold the dash and the just the screws for the guage cluster and its out. and then im not sure about the grand cherokees but i would assume like most of the new cars the dash panal is snap on and off so it may be easier. Is it a fuse or light bulb?
It is more than likely just a bulb. However, have a mechanic with electrical backing look into the switch and pray that's not it.Is it a fuse or light bulb?
Very Easy To Get TO The Bulbs. Take Off The Dash Panel. There Will Be No More Than 4-6 Screws To Remove The Speedometer Cluster. Then You Will See Wires Going Into It. They Are Just Like Blinkers. Just Twist It To The Left And It Will Pop Right Out. Take The Bulb To A AutoPart Store And They Will Give You The Replacements.
