How much would this cost? Tune up and fuse?

I have a 96 Pontiac Grand AM SE..I'm going to get a tune up..I won't need the air/fuel filter changed because I just got those changed about a month ago..so I would probably just need my spark plugs/wires changed? Also, I need a fuse changed...nothing major, just my lights where my heater buttons won't light up and it'd be a lot easier if they DID! so about how much would this cost me for spark plugs and wires re-done..and a new fuse? I live in Ohio and my car has about 125,XXX miles on itHow much would this cost? Tune up and fuse?
It would depend on the engine size,a ball park figure;$75-$150.00

It might be more if eng.diagnostics are done be fore the work, because a

tune up may not be what you need.

Your fuse box will have a layout of your fuses printed on the cover.

You can find the right fuse and test with a test light. It is possible

that it may be a bulb behind the heater control panel.

How much would this cost? Tune up and fuse?
bout $100-140, but if you are a bit mechanicly inclined , id recommend doing the work your self , that job on that car is very very easy, specially if its the 4 cylinder, the parts will cost u at auto zone about $40, and even the haynes auto book(repair manual) is there for that car and thats $15 and it will tell you how to do everything to that car with pics and diagrams, about the heater lights , sometimes they get loose , try giving the heater some love taps, the light just might go back on, i dont think its the fuse, i think its the bulb How much would this cost? Tune up and fuse?
The spare part price of one spark plug is several bucks according to differrent brand. Labor fee is about half hour to one hour I guess.

I have no idea about your wires.

It is better if you know the model of the fuse. You can ask %26quot;Auto zone%26quot;

the price of a new fuse.

I keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?

i have a 99 mazda protege, and the fuse from the dash board lights and tail lights blew. i changed it about 10 times and it keeps blowing. also the radio will not even turn on.. im a female trying to fix it. can anyone tell me what the problem is? and about how much it will be to fix it and where i can get it fixed. thank youI keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?
Something is up with your electrical system... You need to go in and have someone look at it... Hopefully they will be able to just hook it up to the Dino and figure out the error code but either way... You can't fix the electrical system on your own.

I keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?
I wish i had a girl like your fuseI keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?
Well, the fuse is blowing for a reason. The trick is - to find the reason.

If you can, find out what else is on that line. If its just the taillights and dash lights then pull out the bulbs. Try replacing the fuse with the bulbs out. If the fuse does not blow then replace the bulbs one-at-a-time until the fuse blows. That will be your bad circuit. If the fuse still blows when you have all the bulbs out, you will need to isolate each line to each socket until you find the %26quot;short%26quot;. If it gets to be too much a good mechanic can find it in about 20 minutes. A bad mechanic will keep trying different things until he/she stumble upon the problem.

Check the fuse for the radio. There should be one in the fuse panel and (if you have an after-market radio) there should be another in the power line to the radio,

Good luck!I keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?
you might have some electrical wiring problems and may have accedentially messed up something when you were fixing it those timesI keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?
you have a wiring problem..theres either two wires touching or the ground wire is touching metal somewhere...

the cost...its hard to tell..it all depends on where the wire is bad at and how much of the dash has to b tore out...

you can take it to your local garage and get an estimate...I keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?
you have a short somewhere, they can be real hard to track down , better get a mechanic to look at it before you could have a fireI keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?
Should be a common circuit with parking/tailights

Remove the bulbs from the parking and tailights

Check sockets for corrosion/bare wires

Install fuse and replace bulbs one a time to see if problem is in the exterior of vehicle - if not same procedure under dash board I keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?
Are you sure you're using the right type of fuse? You may need a higher gauge.

If you still have the old one, check the number on the top.

If you have a friend with the same car ask and check theirs.

Otherwise, talk to your dealer or a mechanic for the right number.I keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?
You have a short somewhere. I would start tracing wires looking for breaks. Have you added any accessories or anything? Your radio should not be on the same fuse as your tail lights. Fords aren't anyways. I keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?
well if they blow once thats normal if they blow again then you have a short somewhere with one of the things that is not working.. any shop will do it but i could nt put a price on it unless i was working on it they go by time it take to fix it and what they have to do to fix itI keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?
Double check that you are using the right amperage fuse. If it's right and still blows you have a problem that could cause serious damage if you don't get to a mechanic.I keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?
It is an electronic problem and needs to have the garage check. You can ask for an estimate before paying for the work. Make sure the estimate is given in writing. Tell them you will get back to them after you go to a couple other garages for n estimate. This will let them know you won't be taken as a female because a lot of garages jack up the price when a female asks. Go to 3 garages and than go to the one that you feel is the most reputable and give them the lowest quote and see if they will match it. A lot of the newer cars require a computer diagnosis to find the problem when it is electronic. It may just be a faulty wire.I keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?
The only thing i can think of would be to get a voltage/amperage meter and open the car up and test the connections. Is the stereo a new one? did it come with the car? do you have other things installed/plugged in that did not come with the car. If you dont have a amperage meter and know how to use one you might have to take it to a local shop or a local highschool that has an autoshop class ( the teachers will let the kids fix it for you with no cost other than parts ). you might even be using the wrong fuses.

BTW: rishab copy and basted his post off another wiki site i say down thumb himI keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?
what's that definition of insanity? doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result? sorry, just kiddin...

this is one of those rogue electrical gremlins that can be difficult to diagnose. You'll have to take it to someone or else learn to use a multimeter (it's not that difficult).

If you end up taking it to the shop, it needs to be a mechanic you can trust -- they'll be charging by the hour, and it could take anywhere from 10 minutes to three hours maybe more.

wish I had a better answer for ya.I keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?
look in the wire harness to the tail lights, start at the lights and work back to the fuse box. You will find that harness in the trunk and under the carpet usually the drivers side good luckI keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?
Blown fuses are a Symptom of a problem, not the problem,There is a short circuit in one of the systems mentioned, a chafed wire perhaps. The parts that re most exposed are the taillights, look or feel where the wires come out of the tube if it is ruff tape it over with electrical tape. It is slow and tedious but rewarding if you find something.

How to change a battery fuse (black one) in my 89 mazda 626 . Fuse is located near the battery. Why it went bad?

A fuse is not located near the battery but a Relay is. Yes, the black thing is a relay, a switch- which controls the electric circuit, kindly ref : circuithttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Switch. When the relay becomes bad then the engine will not start or the wiring system will not operate. So you have to replace it with a new one. Just remove it by pulling it as you press the lower clips in hard and fitting a new one in it's place. How to change a battery fuse (black one) in my 89 mazda 626 . How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?

Does anyone know how a DIYer like myself can replace the consumer unit in my house. I have an old fashioned fusebox at the moment.

I'm confident I can wire it up properly but I'd need to know how to turn off the supply to the house.

Any thoughts. How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?
You will f**k up if you do this, to isolate the tails into your fuse board you have to cut and then open the meter which IS ILLEGAL if you arent working for an authorised person.

The cut outs are r at 240v 100/80/60A which will kill you on contact im not telling a unqualified potentially incompetent person how to do this job!How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?
If you can't turn off the supply to your house then I think you need to get a qualified electrician to do the work for you.How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?
You'll need counciling permissionHow to change a consumer unit / fuse box?
If think that it might be worth ignoring the UK regulations and still do it yourself. Firstly you could have difficulty reselling your house if you cannot prove that the work was done by a qualified person. Secondly if anything were to go wrong and you tried to make an insurance claim the assessor could point out that you had broken the terms of your policy. He would just walk away. I could go on with lots of examples. Take the earlier advice get someone qualified. How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?
I don't know why some people get it into their heads to attempt stupid things. The work you plan to do is illegal, not allowed and downright dangerous. I get so angry with people like you. I have lots of thoughts but they can't be printed here I'm afraid. How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?
I think you will find it is now illegal for a non qualified person to carry out such work, any %26quot;accidents%26quot; will no doubt void your insurance. Use the services of a qualified ElectricianHow to change a consumer unit / fuse box?
The UK building code now states that you need to either get a qualified electrician to carry out the work, or at least sign off the work as safe before you can turn it back on again.

If you do not do this, your home insurance will be invalid and you cannot sell your house until either is done. Either way, you can't change sockets in your kitchen these days without one of the above being done. My guess is, if you need to ask the question, you shouldn't be doing it.How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?
You need to get a permit and call your local electric company to come and turn off your main. They will do the disconnect outside and will come back to re connect when you call them.

DO NOT TRY THIS WITHOUT A PERMIT AAAND POWER SHUT OFF!!!!!!How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?
You will need a permit on this one. I strongly suggest that you get an electrician to do this work. If you make a mistake with the imcoming line, there is no fuse till you get back to the transformer and that is a lot of power to take to ground.

You will also void your insurance if you do the work without the permit.

It is a good idea, but hand this one off to a professional. How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?
I am assuming you are in the UK.

The consumer unit is the property of your local electricity company. As such, you must not do ANY work at all to it.

It is dangerous to even consider doing something like this yourself. You are neither qualified nor insured to conduct such work. DIY on the mains electricity supply to your home is a seriously bad idea.

You should contact your local electricity company and request one of their engineers to come out and do the work for you. They will assess the equipment themselves and organise the replacement if they think it really is necessary to do so. Also, there will be no cost to you for this service. How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?
Hire it done! How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?
This is definitely not a DIYer project, first of all the power company will require a reason to disconnect and the finished job will have to be inspected, a licensed electrician is the only person allowed to do this change.Call an electrician!!How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?
yes my thoughts are DON'T do it your gong to die. lol You must have a trained electrician complete this work.....How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?
You can't begin to do this yourself you have no idea of what's involved.

Before a P registered electrician can even start on the job he will have to test your whole house electrics to make sure there are no other problems lurking in the wings. You need specialist equipment for this and know-how to use it and interprete the results.

That's why he spent years training to do this and had to pass exams on the way.

Leave it to the professionals, he will then leave you with a certificate to prove it has been done correctly. This can then be passed on should you intend to sell your property at a later date.

My advice to you is to get three quotes from known or recommended electricians.

Don't attempt it yourself you will only cost you more in the long run.How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?
do not touch it.get a qualified electrician.under new regulations any damage to life or property will be your sole responsibility and you will be uninsured. How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?
Keep your cottonpicking hands out... you will probably end up by setting the house on fire and insurance won't cover you for being a pratt, get in a man who is qualified and sleep well until you are ninety with no fear of the little known god of retrebutions comming and getting you and yours. ELECTRICITY BITES.......................How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?
if you are in the uk you must use a part P registered electricianHow to change a consumer unit / fuse box?
Go outside. Do you see an electrical meter/hour counter. Big glass bowl looking thing. You need open the box its in and pull that out. Done power is off in your house. But allways double check to see if your safe. Keep house panel off when removing replacing the meter. How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?
Don't try it yourself, its not hard if you know what your doing but the problem is you must break the electricity boards seals to remove the main fuse which feeds the consumer unit. How to change a consumer unit / fuse box?
Changing a consumer unit is a fairly straightforward job providing you have some spare on the wires from all the circuits because you will find that a modern consumer unit with an RCCD will be wired differently than your existing one.

Having said that to complete the job you will need to have the electrical supply from the Electricity Board main supply fuse turned off, this is normally sealed. You can arrange for them to come along isolate the supply so you can do the job and then come back and reinstate the supply when you've finished.

The real problem you will face is that they will not re-instate the supply without a certificate from an approved electrician.

An electrician will probably do the job for about 拢300-00p which would include the new consumer unit

How do you change an electrical box fuse?

A fuse blew out in my house tonight. I noticed the fuse was tripped in the fuse box but when I tried to flip it back it sparks a little and trips back to the red.

I know how to pop out the cartridge that the fuse is in but I dont see an easy way to open up the cartridge. Do you replace the entire cartridge or just the fuse itself? How do you change an electrical box fuse?
you will have to repalce the entire cartridge. make sure you get the same amp rating. they do make fuses that have the insides replaceable but you usually dont see them on a residential home. take the fuse with you to replace so you can match it up lowes or a home depot can help you tomorrow good luck :0)How do you change an electrical box fuse?
I think usually you replace the cartridge. They are not very expensive just make sure you get the right amps.

The amps will be denoted by the number on the cartridge. How do you change an electrical box fuse?
A fuse is round and screws in a circuit breaker is the thing you flip back and forth. Two different things. That is why it is very important not to listen to most people on here giving advice. If you are careful you do not need to kill the main breaker (all the power) first remove the panel box face plate (thing with the door on it) angle out the breaker (snaps out) and bring to your local hardware store match amp size and NAME of breaker box! Snap the new one back in. Good luck

Get a pair of needle nose pliers and remove the fuses one at a time. You will be able to see a burnt out fuse. It's probably a 10 amp fuse. May be green.

use a circuit meter. you can cobble one together using battery, torch bulb, and two wires or you should be able to buy a circuit testing screwdriver cheaply. test the circuits one by one(when it's switched off!)How can i test which element is broken on my oven?
Home electrics what a pain! Usually if an element blows, after changing the fuse it would blow again or the rest of the oven would work. If nothing except the clock is working, you may find the problem is something other than, or as well as something else.

Its all quite basic really, but can be difficult to describe to the inexperienced.

You need to UNPLUG it (sounds obvious, but safety first).

You need to purchase a cheap multimeter. Set it to ohms x 1.

Now you need to open your oven so that you can get to the switches. I suspect (as its quite common) that water has got into the switch, possibly when cleaning. A visual inspection will reveal if any switch has burnt itself out. If nothing obvious, test with the meter. If there is an open circuit, the meter will not read. With both probes across two points of the switch, you should get a reading in the on position, nothing in the off.

And you should get a variable reading if you're measuring across the thermostat. You can also use the meter for reading the elements. A good element will read almost short circuit, i.e nearly all the way over. A bad element will cause no movement. Hope i've given you a good idea of where to start, good luck!

Renault Megane Coupe alize trip meter problem and conking out problem?

sounds like you need a diagnostic check does as others have suggested .hope you sort it out .Renault Megane Coupe alize trip meter problem and conking out problem?
best bet would be to get a diagnostic done, its possibly the coil pack is at fault, this would account for the conking out and believe it or not its also linked to the speedo and the trip meter but don't spend your money on a new unit with out confirming this with a diagnostic, with out seeing the car i may be totally wrong. Pay about 拢30 at an independent garage for a diagnostic.

    How to use car defroster?

idk if you are supposed to defrost at a cold temp or high temp

does anyone know which is best?

and why doesnt my rear defroster work?

i tried changing fuse but it was a no go

and what are those lines on the rear window for???How to use car defroster?
    Always set to Hot.

You back off the heat as needed.

Depending on the vintage of vehicle,

Your A/C-Air-conditioning is used along with selector set at defrost %26amp; if you

wait 10-13 minutes for the engine to make adequate hot coolant to make

warm air blow on glass, the A/C will kick in as well to speed up the

    wetness on the windshield.

You need to remove items on the dash blocking the vents.

But keep in mind your running A/C when on defrost.

A/C takes 12 Hp from the engine to run it, plus the alternator

demanding a 10Hp pull as well to keep all this going with added fans.

You will want to select the heater position to %26quot;Floor%26quot; to shut off the A/C soon

as windshield is clear and dry to get your milage back to normal.

This has huge benefits keeping the carpets dry, and your feet toasty.

Don't forget about rear seat passengers feet.

Getting the heat down to the floor is a must.

    *

    Now for the rear window.

Picture the wires in your toaster.

These special flat wires have high resistance that gets it's control from a set timed timer relay. Factory sets them about 7-10 minutes being it's a fairly high load when you hit the button.

If it functioned, you'd see cut lines melt through the frost at each wire,

and then as the glass warms, it will blend in melting the rest.

If you see any of the wires damaged, then they can be repaired.

Sorry, replacing fuse is a good attempt, but the relay is

usually the problem for it not working.

I think they usually go for $30.

So your best bet is to run out prior to getting dressed, and fire him up.

The ten minutes he gets warming up is bare minimum and makes the tour first class.

This also warms the transmission for the brutal tour. How to use car defroster?
It took me a while in snow country to learn to use the coolest useful defroster (think of it as a defogger) temperature and to scrape the ice off - at least if there is snow falling. A warm windshield tends to melt snow that hits it and builds up slush at the side of the windshield so you have to stop periodically and wipe it away. If it isn't snowing you can crank the heat up.

Those lines are resistance strips that provide the heat for the rear defroster. There is a timer somewhere (depending on your make and model) that controls the rear defroster. How to use car defroster?
well frosting is an ice so i always use hot air it works for me hope it works, now about the rear lines in the window i herd and im not sure about this but i herd that they are strips that electrical currents run through to defrost the back window and that might be your problem with the back window defrosting is that the strip is broken in some wayHow to use car defroster?
to get rid of foggy windows on the inside the perfect temp is right in the middle. for ice or frost hot. did the fuse blow when you changed it? if so, then you have a shorted wire somewhere. if not, then one of the heat strips on the rear window is broken (that's what those lines on the rear window are for). How to use car defroster?
the lines are the defroster. Us it in the cold to get rid of light condensation or frost. You use it when you need it.

  • Changing a fuse on my car?

ok i drive a 2004 saturn ion, sedan.

and my front right light/ turning signal won't work.

my dad told me it's probably a fuse but i don't know how to change it. i know where the fuses are.

and i don't know what kind it needs?

any help? thankyou!Changing a fuse on my car?
More than likely the bulb is burned out. Stop by an auto parts store and they will probably change it for you if you buy the bulb from them.Changing a fuse on my car?
find your cars instruction manual it should be in there, check the light bulb to make sure its good, its not always the fuseChanging a fuse on my car?
on the fuse cap there should be a diagram of the fuses with names. i think it says trn sgnl... for turn signal... pull it with the supplies pliers and snap a new one in, usually a car already has extras...Changing a fuse on my car?
I believe there is only one fuse for the signal lights, so if your left signal is working, don't bother looking for or changing the fuse. You need to change one of the bulbs. Is the front turn signal showing light but not flashing, or is the rear one showing light but not flashing.

The one not lighting is the bad bulb and needs changing.Changing a fuse on my car?
is right rear light up but dont blink it not fuse it bulb go to shop be nice iam sure some will put it in for you cheep like $5or10Changing a fuse on my car?
all fuses have a num on it u just remove it an replace on the cover of the fuse box is a diogram of what every fuse it to make sure its the rite one an if your signal light blinks real fast its the bulb dat whent outChanging a fuse on my car?
I have to agree with Frankie. It's a bad bulb. If it was a fuse none of your turn signals would work. Your owner's manual will tell you what type of bulb to buy and may even show you how to change it. Good luck.Changing a fuse on my car?
Most likely is the bulb itself and not the fuse. Check whether the bulb is blown first by looking for any broken wire. As for the fuse box, just look at the cover and it will tell you where the fuse is.Changing a fuse on my car?
Actually if it was a burnt out bulb it wouldn't be the turn signal (which is the DRL amber light on the ion) AND the headlight. The fuse should be in drivers compartment otherwise it's the fuse box under the hood. If that doesn't fix the problem it's probably the headlight harness itself (it's a %26quot;multi harness%26quot;). If you can't do it yourself take it to autozone and one of the guys will probably do it for you for free (plus the cost of the fuse).

How to change a car fuse?

a fuse is blown in my car and i have to change it. what should i use to pull the fuse out. Just pliers or something else? How to change a car fuse?
pliers will work, but you may short something else out if your not carefull...i would by a fuse remover at an auto parts store, you can get on for about 2 bucks. How to change a car fuse?
You need to have good spare fuses available first of all. Normally the fuse panel is near the drivers side, below, and sort of hidden. Reach out below the dashboard and try to locate it. It will have a cover and if you remove the cover, on the cover, instructions will be available. So take out each fuse and exampine closely which is burnt out. Replace the burnt ones. You are all set now.How to change a car fuse?
Pilers will work fine. It's pretty cramped those little fuse panels. I would suggest needle nose pilers. How to change a car fuse?

Sterling M is correct. Fix the problem, you may check the headlight switch also, but you will not fix the problem by changing the fuse style. How do I change and old car fuse box that uses round fuses to the new ones that cars use now??
    hi there

check grounds in the front clip, and check the dimmer switch, the problme is not with the fuse panel

dont get yourself into a disaster choipping up the entire harness to do something as crazy as trying to put a later style panel in it

    you dont need to

the problem is not because of the panel

it will be a worn out component or a bad ground or bad plug connection somewhere

clean everything including all grounds and if no luck then replace switches

    good luck

Horn Fuse Keeps Blowing; It started with a stressed out Horn?

My horn fuse burns out every time I try to blow horn.

Its an automatic 97 Honda Accord SE.

Sequence of Events leading to the problem: -

    1) Security alarm went off and the horn was screaming continuously

    2) While I was trying to figure out how to disarm my alarm, at some point the horn stopped working

    3) After I finally disarmed the security system, I realized couldn't get the car to change gears from Parking to Drive.

    4) After some research, I realized that my horn fuse has blown off. (The same fuse is tied to rear brake lights. The car wouldn't let me shift gears while the tail lights are inoperable. Its a security feature I guess).

    5) Changing the fuse lets me shift gears and drive. But the fuse blows off the moment I press on the horn - And I am stranded again!!

    The wiring diagram :-

Fuse is serially connected to [ (a) and (b) in parallel ]

    (a) Horn Relay-%26gt;Clockspring-%26gt;Horn switch-%26gt;Ground

    (b) Relay Slave-%26gt;Horn-%26gt;Ground

What happened? Any possible fix?Horn Fuse Keeps Blowing; It started with a stressed out Horn?
A very strange problem indeed. I am not familiar with Hondas, but I would find it very strange for the horn and brake lights to be tied to the same fuse. If that fuse is preventing operation of your car then I would suspect a wiring problem of some kind (a bad ground somewhere as previously stated in another post is very likely). You may try disconnecting the wire from your horn(s) to see if that prevents the fuse from being blown when you try to honk your horn, then you know your horn is the problem. If that doesn't change blowing the fuse, then your problem is likely in the wiring harness where some bare wires may be shorting out somewhere, very hard to track down. Good luck.Horn Fuse Keeps Blowing; It started with a stressed out Horn?
Check that ground. Run another one if you need to...you might want to run another ground just in case. Simply splice another wire and run it to a piece of bare metal connected to the car. Check for bare wires anywhere along the route as it could be a short. Electric tape works wonders in this situation.Horn Fuse Keeps Blowing; It started with a stressed out Horn?
check your battery terminal connections. I had the same problem with my 2001 Grand Prix. It has a aftermarket alarm system no it. If the alarm system is not getting enough power it will lock up the shifter so you cant get it out of park. A bad connection will also cause your alarm to go off. Clean the battery terminals and the cables off.

Look in the Breaker Panel for a large double pole breaker, that is not set, there may be 3 or more, one for Electric Range, one for Dryer, and one for A/c, and if you have Electric heat, another, one will be thrown if its the proplem, look for an idex of which is which- but if its not flopping or loose , also look for a fuse on the Furnace- also look outside near the Condenser, make sure the power is on.Can someone tell me how to change this freakin fuse. Sometimes it is not wired into the Master Fuse box. Mine is outside in its own little box mounted on the house next to the AC unit.

Car decks not working. No power?

    Hi guys,

I have just purchased a new deck for my 99 Camry. While i was wiring the deck to another connector i heard a little shock sound. I connected everything, turned the car on, the deck didn't turn on. tried connected my stock deck back in that didn't work either. I am stuck now without a deck, new deck isn't working neither is the stock. This is my first time, not sure what i did wrong, maybe i blew the fuse. Not sure what step to take next, or how to change fuse :S

Any suggestions would be appreciated, CheersCar decks not working. No power?
omfg... if u dont know how to change a fuse then u shouldnt be wiring up decks, wtf dude.

u should be banned from everything auto electrical. there is a fuse box either under the bonnet or under the drivers or passengers side footwell. i cant remember where on a camry but i assume its gonna be under the bonnet. on the lid of the fuse box it will tell u what fuse is what, so find the one for the deck and pull it out, look at it and if the metal on the inside isnt joined together or looks burnt out you have blown it, goto ur local auto store and get a matching fuse, they all have numbers on them so u know which is which. if the fuse turns out to be fine... well the youve done some damage and u should get it checked out.

What could I do about my cold hearted, heartless, and a snake of a Landlord?

My father has been the Super of my building complex for 20 years. The former landlord passed away and we got a new landlord who is very heartless. He is very bold and nasty to all tenants you cannot ask him anything because he will look at you like you are speaking to him in another language. One day my father looked out the window because he heard the garbage cans moving and noticed a strange man cleaning in front of the building so he went down and asked him if everything was alright and the man informed him that he was the new super. He called the landlord and he said so bluntly that he sent him a notice in the mail that his service is no longer needed. Then he changed the lock on the basement door so that my father cannot get in the basement, because my father has his work tools as well as he change fuses for tenants and now no one can get in the basement if you blow a fuse. How can I get my father to realize that this man is playing him and get the landlord to be respectful to usWhat could I do about my cold hearted, heartless, and a snake of a Landlord?
I would contact your local residential tenancy branch and let them know everything.

Also, keep notes of everything that this man does and if you can try to even record some of the things (like on camera or tape).

Your father also has rights as an employer, if he was in fact a legal employee.

You can also talk to neighbors and see if they agree with you. If so have them sign a petition or something. Get them to support you somehow.

As well, do not let this guy intimidate you. He is probably just a miserable man who has nothing good in his life or is completly unhappy. Are happy people mean? No.

If you treat this guy unkindly it will just fuel him even more. Let him see you and all of your neighbors being nice to each other and I guarantee he will feel crappy and very unliked.

Anyhow I wish you a lot of luck. What could I do about my cold hearted, heartless, and a snake of a Landlord?

Your horn must have a constant live feed. If this is the case you have got a bad earth on your car. The easiest way to rectify the problem is find the negative side of your horn and make up a patch lead to go between the horn and the car body. Failing this you need to buy a new horn.I drive a citroen saxo and everytime i try to put a new fuse in for the horn it blows instantly?

Sounds like a short circuit somewhere. You need to check all the wiring to the horn.

Is it wise to run a 9.5kw shower through a 6mm cable even though there's a 40amp fuse in the fuse box?

My mate has installed a 9.5kw shower and it kept cutting out as the fuse kept blowing. He was trying to run it with a 30amp fuse and only 6mm cable. For that size Kw shower using 6mm cable,it is supposed to be a cable length of 20m or less from shower to consumer, any longer then 10mm cable should be used.Is it wise to run a 9.5kw shower through a 6mm cable even though there%26039;s a 40amp fuse in the fuse box?
That is highy dangerous and illegal since 2002 it has been illegal for DIY electrics a Qualified electritian must do it an issue a safety certificate.

it should have been on a 45A breaker with earth leakage detection plus a minum of 10mm^2 cable.

This could kill you!! also if the property is rented or sold it will have to be removed and reinstalled by someone who is qualified to do it!Is it wise to run a 9.5kw shower through a 6mm cable even though there%26039;s a 40amp fuse in the fuse box?
Your very much correct ! 10mm squared cable with a 45 Amp RCBO is the correct way. and it must meet the building control under part P regulations. Man tell him to be careful !!!!! It's against the law to use less than 10mm

Replacing fuse box...can anyone tell me how much it would cost?

to change my old fuse box for a new one. My present one is about 30years old and I think it needs replacing. Lights fused last night and it was the devils own to change the fuse..I believe more modern ones indicate the fuse that is blow. Am I right?Replacing fuse box...can anyone tell me how much it would cost?
the modern ones do not blow but trip out, so you just switch them back on, however they are expesive, my consumer unit as it is realy called is fuses and I would not part with it for the world, the new units trip out at the slighest thing such as a bulb blowing, they often trip due to strip lighting and washing machines even though there is nothing wrong, I am an electrical engineer and thus have considerable experience, personally if you have poblems with your fuses just buy a few spare fuse holders etc and at your leisure rewire them with the fuse wire ready in case you need them. by the way if your house wiring is 30 years old the chances are you could well need a rewire. you really should have your wiring checked every five years. Lots of the guys doing that kind of work insist you change your consumer unit (fuse box,) if you do rewire then its best you do change it as it will be compulsary then.

If you are looking at a full reqire you are looking at anything from about 拢600 upwards in to the thousands.

for a new consumer unit (fuse box) an electrician will buy it for about 拢40 plus vat and each trip in it will be about 拢25 ( each trip is what they call a way, each way is where each of your fuses are now so if you have say a six way consumer unit you have six fuses in it. so six times 拢25 for the trips and about 拢40 for the unit, then there is labour to fit.

I hope I have been of some help

remember your fuse box as you call it is the house holders insurance against fire really for the fuses go before damage is done. thats the theory anyway . Take careReplacing fuse box...can anyone tell me how much it would cost?
Well modern fuse boxes, don't use fuses. :)

They have trip switches, so if one goes you just flip the switch back up.

    How much it cost?

    1. Can you Do It Yourself?, if so -%26gt; not that much.

    2. Get someone in, well how long is a piece of string.!Replacing fuse box...can anyone tell me how much it would cost?
I doubt you can even BUY a fuse box anymore.

You will have to go to a circuit breaker box. they have magnetic

trip switches that you put in them. I think you will need a licensed electrician to do that work because of insurance problems, plus it has to be certified before you can sell your house.

not sure about that last part. better check that.

It can get pretty costly replacing an old fuse box with a circuit breaker system .Ask around you may find someone who does it on the side ...Check Homedepot.com or lowes.com for the cost of circuit breaker box . Modern breaker trip off like a light switchReplacing fuse box...can anyone tell me how much it would cost?
To change an old rewireable type 'fuse box' to a modern 'split' consumer unit, with e.g. 8 circuit breakers and an RCD for sockets would cost appx. 拢170.00-250.00 + vat. Depends on the brand of equipment and other things that may be reqd. for example upgrading of earthing and supply tails to meter. Not really a diy job, especially in England with Part P regs.Replacing fuse box...can anyone tell me how much it would cost?
Hi, you'll need to fit a RCB/D consumer unit. A split one ( with the breakers is about 拢100. labour is a day if there are no problems - 拢150

Bear in mind that RCD with earth leakage may uncover earth leakage problems in yuor house that a fuse box will not find, you'll need to wait and see. These are often where the neutral is touching earth somewhere, or your shower/imersion/cooker element. But once they appear, they will need fixing as the RCD will trip out ith these faults.

Good look, house wiring should be changed every 20 years so its about time this was looked at as well, you can do the job seperate to the consumer uit at a later date if needed ( normally co-incide with when you want to redecorate.

You cannot change the consumer unit ypurself (unless you know how to comply with part p ) , this is now notifiable work under part P regulations. Your local planning office can give you more infor about their part p planning requirementsReplacing fuse box...can anyone tell me how much it would cost?
It sounds like what you need is a distribution box with circuit breakers. They trip off when they detect a short circuit and can be reset when the short is gone.

The cost is dependent on the size (Amp. Service) and installation.

Please get some expert advice. All it takes is one mistake around electricity and it could be your last.Replacing fuse box...can anyone tell me how much it would cost?
We had someone come give us an estimate to replace ours. The estimate about $2,000 in Charlotte, NC. Of course anytime you call someone out of the book, you get a ridiculous estimate.

The head unit will need to come out. you need special 'keys' to do so. They come with the head unit new or can be purchased seperatly from somewhere like halfords. when you slide the head unit out, the fuse is plugged into the rear of the unit. Usually there are two latches on either side of the unit. You'll need something thin and perhaps slightly slanted to pull it out.

Open your trunk and see if you can access the back of the light from there. If so, you might need to pull back the molding and/or carpet. Once you find the back of the light, there will be a plastic housing with wires coming out that holds the light and holds it in place. You'll need to give it about a quarter turn and it should come right out. From there, just remove the blinker bulb (the yellow one), buy a new one, and reverse the process. How do i change a turning signal bulb in my car?

Fridge cause the fuse box trip. Change the socket fuse, fuse box still trip when turn on fridge. How to solve?

Is it because of the dust accumulated at the condenser coil which has increased the condensor load, hence cause the current surge?Fridge cause the fuse box trip. Change the socket fuse, fuse box still trip when turn on fridge. How to solve?
Dust usually will not cause the fridge to trip a fuse or breaker. I'd say there is something wrong with your compressor.

First replace the fuse (people still use fuses?) if it trips again, call a repair man. You have a compressor problem.Fridge cause the fuse box trip. Change the socket fuse, fuse box still trip when turn on fridge. How to solve?
Use an extension lead and plug your fridge into a socket on a different circuit. If the other circuit trips, your fridge has a fault. If it does not trip, try to establish which appliances are on the same circuit which is normally used by your fridge. ( It could be another appliance which is faulty).

You can do this by switching the trip switch off. The appliances on this circuit will then cease to work. Unplug the appliances which don't work and then switch the circuit breaker back on. You must then plug each of these appliances on one by one to establish if another faulty appliance is tripping the switch. Hopefully it will be a cheap appliance which you can replace.Fridge cause the fuse box trip. Change the socket fuse, fuse box still trip when turn on fridge. How to solve?
trip switches once tripped can become more sensitive to tripping especially if the circuit is already near to maximum loading change the fuse box trip . You may need to increase the rating of that circuit protector or switch some thing to a different circuit.Check all the visible wiring for any breaks as even a small short circuit will trip the breaker

How can I test if household fuse is still working?

I got a second hand lamp and it didn't work even when I changed the bulb. Then I tried changing the fuse in the plug, but the fuses I have had at home for years may be old ones, in fact they may be dud!. Is there any way of testing them to see if they still work? find the nearest outlet and plug a lamp into that. then find the fuse circuit that connects to that plug. from there test each fuse. whatever fuse makes the lamp turn on place it back in the box. the ones that don't toss it.

place the fuse in a dry area someplace easy to find and that it will not fall. How can I test if household fuse is still working?
fuses don't get old and quit working. They're either good or they're not.

You should be able to look through the clear portion of the fuse and see if the filament is solid, or burned. They are designed to %26quot;blow%26quot; (melt) in the middle where they are the thinnest. If the filament is solid, the fuse is good.

If you have a second hand lamp that doesn't work, plug something that DOES work into the same plug and see if that item works. If it does, then you may have a bad plug on the lamp, broken wire on the lamp, bad light socket on the lamp or even a bad switch.

Maybe that's why it's second hand. How can I test if household fuse is still working?
yes some screw drivers have a fuse tester built in xxHow can I test if household fuse is still working?
Swap all your suspect ones, one at a time in the plug of a lamp that you know is working. If the lamp works the fuse is ok. Throw away all the old ones, and put the original back into the lamp plug. Make sure that you use the correct fuse rating, usually 13a brown and 3 amp red, but also 2/5/10 amp are available. Make sure they are good quality, they should be marked BS1362, and the amperage.

You can also buy a simple fuse tester in most electrical shops or Maplins, only about 拢2.00How can I test if household fuse is still working?
first make sure the light bulb is working then test your fuses by putting them in the same plug if the light does not come on discard that fuse and put another one in the plug if it works put it back in your box do this with all the fuses you have, no matter if they are 3 or15 amp. its only a fuse test when you have finished make sure you only use a 3 or5 amp for the light, 13 amp for all other appliences central heating is also only 3 amp and that is important. How can I test if household fuse is still working?
Test the fuse in something you are sure is in working order.

I took a lamp to bits one day, changed the fuse, the plug, and rewired the top bit, only to find out the new bulb i had used wasn't working!!!! LOLHow can I test if household fuse is still working?
There should be a clear window in the fuse, with a little gray band in it. If the band, which is the fuse, is broken, or burnt looking, the fuse is bad. If you don't have the kind of fuses that have the band, take them to a hardware store to have them tested. It should be free. DO NOT swith fuses around! You may well blow them, or get hurt, if you choose the wrong receptacle. Next time, try to buy breakers that are used in the old fuse receptacles. And save up to get your electrical updated.

    Best of luck!

Does anybody know how to change a fuse for the rear defogger on a 2003 impala?

It's hard enough getting the fuse panel open, but the fuses themselves are these big grey boxes. Do they come off or do I have to have it professionally done?Does anybody know how to change a fuse for the rear defogger on a 2003 impala?
There is a little fuse at the underhood fuse box. The grey boxes are relays and there is a silver box to check which is a circuit breaker. Just wiggle them out to remove them. Check the underhood fuse block-look for 'RT I/P 3'-this fuse controls the rear defogger. There is also a circuit breaker at the right side fuse block in the instrument panel. Open the passenger front door, pull the side dash cover off and look for REAR DEFOG BRKR. You can swap it with the breaker above it to see if it's the breaker that is bad. There is also a REAR DEFOG RELAY to the left of the breaker. Put your finger on it and turn the defogger on and off and see if you can feel it 'clicking'. If you can then the relay should be OK. Hope this helps.Does anybody know how to change a fuse for the rear defogger on a 2003 impala?

Are you speaking of the under hood fuses or the inside fuse panel, the underhand fuses are for more heavy duty stuff, the defogger fuse would be under the dash somewhere on the inside fuse panel, those are small fuses you just pull out with your fingers or a fuse puller

How does one prove damage caused by the power company?

As an addition to two of my other questions that are currently predominating my spare time,if the power company has problems with the people they are contracting power from on the high side supply transformer and are changing fuses (to which they admit when my father called), switching the power on and off for the entire region, and a person -my father- witnesses the result (the tower jumping, crackling and sparking) and then calls to inquire and it is verified that they are doing maintenance at the substation, can the power company be held liable for damages to the computer (motherboard, processor, power supply, hard drive and supplies used to recover data)? The power co.'s liability department/HR person wrote a letter stating that this had occurred, but that they are not responsible for the %26quot;act of god%26quot; caveat or other variations (pretty much anything). I'm maintaining that I think it was their maintenance not some unforeseen or unpredictable acts. How does one prove damage caused by the power company?
You should contact a local electrician who can examine any damaged wiring or appliances and serve as an expert, and, further, assuming the electrician's analysis is the same as yours, explore suing the electric company. For that, you should consult a local attorney. How does one prove damage caused by the power company?
    Three steps.

First, you need to prove that damage occurred. That's a matter of being able to demonstrate objective harm/loss.

Second, you need to prove causality -- the harm was the result of (was caused by) something the power company did or did not do.

Third, you need to prove either that the power company acted intentionally to cause that harm, or acted negligently by failing to do something that it should have to avoid the harm. How does one prove damage caused by the power company?
it's hard to prove it.......any outsider cabn look at this and will point the finger at the power company....but to go after them for damages you will need hard proof....like if you have that conversation taped where they say they were conducting maintenance

How do I change the flasher fuse on my 1989 Oldsmobile 98?

I know that I need to replace the flasher on my 89 Oldsmobile 98...but I don't know where the fuse is. It's not part of my Fuse Panel that's under the dash. I can't hear where the sound is coming from when I turn on my hazards...anyone know? How do I change the flasher fuse on my 1989 Oldsmobile 98?
The fuse for the flashers is on the fuse panel. It sounds as if you are trying to find the signal flasher, is that right? If so, you will have to remove all the under dash panels and expose the lower area of the steering column. The signal flasher is clipped onto the steering column support brackets usually close to the top and close to where your knee sits when driving. It is also usually facing up so it's hard to see. Sometimes feeling around up there with your hand is the best way to find it. Good luck. How do I change the flasher fuse on my 1989 Oldsmobile 98?

The radio usually slides straight out. There are a lot of wires, so be careful when pulling it out. Look for fuses connected to a red wire (the hot wire). Take the fuse out and bring it to a store and ask for the same fuse. That's it.

It is under the hood, inside the fuse box on the right side I believe. It is the 80 amp one.

Instructions say to disconnect the negative pole and that there are two bolts retaining it. if so they are either a 6, or 8 mm. I don't think they could be any bigger.

How do i go about fixing my problem? How do you change a 80A fuse on a 2000 miata?
Before you go any further WHY did an 80A fuse blow?

If it was something you did such as jump starting the car the wrong way then there's a good chance you may have some other components that are damaged. Get it looked at professionally so it doesn't start a fire or leave you stranded somewhere.

If you don't know why it blew, then don't touch it as it would just blow again to protect your car.

Otherwise, the 80A fuse is a large one, it is screwed in, and yes the battery should be disconnected when it is replaced AFTER the cause of the blow has been solved. How do you change a 80A fuse on a 2000 miata?
You have no guy friends to help ya?? You need to look at the back of the lid to the fuse box. Trace down what fuse it is. It'll say 80A if it's an 80A fuse. Anyways look and see if it's got screws holding it in. If it's 80Amps it may possibly be a bigger fuse. If not then take some needle nose pliers and pull it out and replace it. No need to disconnect battery. How do you change a 80A fuse on a 2000 miata?
you gotta find out what the fuse blew, it probably touching metal somewhere, the 80A fuse are the special type of fuse, they aint cheap and can only get at specific locations, if you dont find out why the fuse has fry, it gonna keep on happening again and again, gotta find the source that trigger

There is a short circuit or overload in the system somewhere. It would be best to have it checked out by a competent service person before greater damage is done and greater expense created. Sometimes simple things can be the root of the problem. Also, in maintenance manuals , available at parts stores for about $15 , they have a troubleshooting section on a/c. Your library may have a copy most do.Why is my air conditioning fuse keep breaking in my car?
It's always possible that the resettable circuit breaker you keep resetting is bad, but more likely there's an electrical short circuit maybe at your A/C compressor's clutch solenoid coil. Test that theory by disconnecting the electrical connector at the clutch (the thing that has the A/C belt threaded around it) and if the circuit breaker doesn't trip, you need a new clutch most likely. Obviously you do not want to put your hands down into a running engine, so always make sure the engine is off before attempting to disconnect the connector. You may have to have a shop technician help you unlock the connector pins to slide it off.Why is my air conditioning fuse keep breaking in my car?

You're replacing the fuse because, like you say, you need to fix the problem with the set. Obviously, there is an intermittent problem in the set that may need a tv tech.

Normally a short is the cause for a fuse to blow , but, I would guess either your power supply circuit or horizontal output circuit may be drawing too much current %26amp; taking the fuse out.

If you are anyways handy around this stuff, you can visually look inside the tv %26amp; check for possibly bad connections or any signs of excess heat or scorching on the pc board.

It may require a some more intense troubleshooting which may require a service call.

Pull of the electrical connection to the back of the headlamp. Clean the back of the headlamp between the prongs and clean the surface of the plug you just pulled out. Perhaps there is a salt trail between them and it is cross shorting. Also inspect inside the motor around the fenders. It could be water somehow building up in your headlight or getting to the bare wire somewhere. Usually the headlight bulb will go first, depending on the type of bulb, then the fuse. If you do see water puddling in your headlamp, take a very small drill bit and put a tiny hole in the bottom of it. That should take care of the problem (if that is the cause). Good Luck!My passenger headlight keeps blowing the fuse every week. Can it be the wiring?. How can I solve this problem?
check the light socket. it could have a short. My passenger headlight keeps blowing the fuse every week. Can it be the wiring?. How can I solve this problem?
the reason for most electrical faults are the ground but that isn't the case for this this sound like a short in wire i would take a light test and or multi meter to test continuity to find a separation in wire also check casing of wire to make sure of bare direct short to frameMy passenger headlight keeps blowing the fuse every week. Can it be the wiring?. How can I solve this problem?
is the head light switch mounted in the dash or on the turn signal? chrysler has had alot of troubles with dash mounted headlight switches. the tend to overheat and melt the connector where it plugs into the switch. ussually they are eassy to take apat to check. if that looks ok and you suspect a wire short the best way to check it is to turn th lights on with a good fuse and move and pull n the wires that go to the lights. ussually if there is a short it will blow the fuse when you get to the area of the wiring that is bad. if the car has ever been in an accident start with the wiring on that side. oh and I have never seen a loose ground or a salt trail? cause a fuse to blow. good luck.

What dose the power co need to do before I update a freinds home from the screw in type fuse box?

to a 100 amp breaker box and how much dose it cost. IM just going to change the fuse box to the breaker box not replaceing any wires.what actions do I need to put in place before getting started. What dose the power co need to do before I update a freinds home from the screw in type fuse box?
I agree, if ya gotta' ask ya oughtn'ta do it. I am all for people DIY. I answer many questions about electricity but I won't even start for this one. Really, you do need a permit, The power co. May need to turn off power at the pole. The wires inside the home Do need to be inspected. Since the fuse box is screw in type therefore the original wiring is pretty old. And you DO NOT have the appropriate knowledge and experience to do all of this. Please do't be offended. I am an industrial electrician. I work with electricity every day and I would hire someone. What dose the power co need to do before I update a freinds home from the screw in type fuse box?
power company doesn't do anything -you have to cut the main breaker off to house BEFORE attempting any work on fuse box.--the cost ranges anywhere from 50 to 150 depends on how many breakers are in boxWhat dose the power co need to do before I update a freinds home from the screw in type fuse box?
They might want to see a copy of the permit you pulled for that project or want to see the license for the electrician who did the work. What dose the power co need to do before I update a freinds home from the screw in type fuse box?
This IS NOT a diy project. You need a permit and for that you need a licensed electrician. What dose the power co need to do before I update a freinds home from the screw in type fuse box?
This is not a do it yourself project. You may need to change the line running from the meter outside to the fuse box. This would require working with the live 220 line.

Do you know how to re-wire the current wires into the new box. They may not be compatible and they my not be clearly marked, so you could cross wires, etc.

Like someone metioned, if there is any local building authority, or when the house is inspected at time of sale, you may have to redo the whole thing.

I seems odd to the amature, but once you replace an item, the entire new project has to be up to current code.

If you are asking this question, you are not qualified to do the job. Hire an electrician before you electrocute yourself or burn your friend's house down. What dose the power co need to do before I update a freinds home from the screw in type fuse box?
Take the necessary training and obtain your electricians license. Changing a service panel is not a DIY type project. And it must be done with a permit and be inspected or the power company will not reconnect to it.What dose the power co need to do before I update a freinds home from the screw in type fuse box?
I'm with rest of the guys...if you have to ask that question, you are not qualified to do that task. I'm all for DIY too, but sometimes you can get in over your head, injure or kill yourself, and burn your friends home down.

How much should it cost to convert 3 fuse boxes to breaker boxes?

My son's friend is an electrician and said it would cost $5,000 to change our fuse boxes to breakers. Our electrical company would need to put another wire into our home as well but I believe there is no charge for that. Please help. I've had one person tell me that it shouldn't cost this much. Thank you.How much should it cost to convert 3 fuse boxes to breaker boxes?
Your son's friend is looking to take advantage. The breaker boxes are not very expensive. To get an idea on cost go to the Lowes or Home Depot web sites or visit the stores. The most expensive part of the change would be labor. Realistically you should be looking at around $2000.00 - $2500.00 to replace three boxes. I suggest you get three or four separate estimates from licensed electrical contractors. How much should it cost to convert 3 fuse boxes to breaker boxes?
$5,000 might be a little high, but it's a good ballpark figure. The real driver will be what's needed to bring your house up to code. If you don't already have a three-wire system, go ahead and get the $5K ready. To rewire an entire house is BIG BUCKS. Remember, building/electrical codes are the driver here.

Good luckHow much should it cost to convert 3 fuse boxes to breaker boxes?
Fee depends on where you are and what is involved. Look in the yellow pages for electrical supply houses, ask for someone in inside sales (they know the work of the contractors) and have them give you some names for estimates. You can check your local Home Depot for the cost of a service, a Meter/Main/Distribution all in one, is the most price effective, just a starting point %26amp; the best way to go if you have the room. Better to check it out first, many contractors will give free estimates.

How do you change car fuses?

Me again with the horn/break lights not working. I think you all were right, blown fuse. However I have tried to replace the fuse twice now (car not running) and it immediately blows the new fuse. What can I do?How do you change car fuses?
If you are continually blowing fuses, then you have a direct short in that assembly. You must trace the line down and determine where the short is. Check the wiring along that line to find where the wire is touching the frame or body, and repair or replace the wire. How do you change car fuses?
Unfortunately, you have a dead short that is blowing the fuses...you'll need to take it to a shop that can put a test breaker on it and track where the short is...it might be the horn switch or the brake switch...or something else on the same circuit.
