and why doesnt my rear defroster work?
i tried changing fuse but it was a no go
and what are those lines on the rear window for???How to use car defroster?
Always set to Hot.
You back off the heat as needed.
Depending on the vintage of vehicle,
Your A/C-Air-conditioning is used along with selector set at defrost %26amp; if you
wait 10-13 minutes for the engine to make adequate hot coolant to make
warm air blow on glass, the A/C will kick in as well to speed up the
wetness on the windshield.
You need to remove items on the dash blocking the vents.
But keep in mind your running A/C when on defrost.
A/C takes 12 Hp from the engine to run it, plus the alternator
demanding a 10Hp pull as well to keep all this going with added fans.
You will want to select the heater position to %26quot;Floor%26quot; to shut off the A/C soon
as windshield is clear and dry to get your milage back to normal.
This has huge benefits keeping the carpets dry, and your feet toasty.
Don't forget about rear seat passengers feet.
Getting the heat down to the floor is a must.

Now for the rear window.
Picture the wires in your toaster.
These special flat wires have high resistance that gets it's control from a set timed timer relay. Factory sets them about 7-10 minutes being it's a fairly high load when you hit the button.
If it functioned, you'd see cut lines melt through the frost at each wire,
and then as the glass warms, it will blend in melting the rest.
If you see any of the wires damaged, then they can be repaired.
Sorry, replacing fuse is a good attempt, but the relay is
usually the problem for it not working.
I think they usually go for $30.
So your best bet is to run out prior to getting dressed, and fire him up.
The ten minutes he gets warming up is bare minimum and makes the tour first class.
This also warms the transmission for the brutal tour. How to use car defroster?
It took me a while in snow country to learn to use the coolest useful defroster (think of it as a defogger) temperature and to scrape the ice off - at least if there is snow falling. A warm windshield tends to melt snow that hits it and builds up slush at the side of the windshield so you have to stop periodically and wipe it away. If it isn't snowing you can crank the heat up.
Those lines are resistance strips that provide the heat for the rear defroster. There is a timer somewhere (depending on your make and model) that controls the rear defroster. How to use car defroster?
well frosting is an ice so i always use hot air it works for me hope it works, now about the rear lines in the window i herd and im not sure about this but i herd that they are strips that electrical currents run through to defrost the back window and that might be your problem with the back window defrosting is that the strip is broken in some wayHow to use car defroster?
to get rid of foggy windows on the inside the perfect temp is right in the middle. for ice or frost hot. did the fuse blow when you changed it? if so, then you have a shorted wire somewhere. if not, then one of the heat strips on the rear window is broken (that's what those lines on the rear window are for). How to use car defroster?
the lines are the defroster. Us it in the cold to get rid of light condensation or frost. You use it when you need it.
