While driving a bolt somehow flew into fan seizing it, car got really hot!! boil over. Removed bolt changed a fuse that blew, drove again and temp gauge went high, not steady but bouncey(?) no boil over. If,as you say,a bolt jammed up the fan,the chances are that the motor has burnt out.the simplest test is to hot wire the fan direct to the battery and see if it turns,if it doesn't then it's shot.quick,easy and definitive.
